Benefits of Chia Seeds

I have been asked about the benefits of Chia seeds and so I ordered and tried them for myself.  What I did was I mixed them in my drinking water and added some to my oatmeal or cereal.

During the first consumption, I noticed that I had a very smooth disposal, maybe because of the high fiber content of the chia seeds.  So I made my research on the benefits of Chia seeds and for sure, I will be including them on most of my recipes.

Chia seeds are very small black seeds that give excellent benefits.  They are very good source of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, calcium, protein, magnesium, and anti-oxidants.

Since it has Omega-3 Fatty Acids, it can help prevent heart attacks and strokes.  It fights inflammation and can lessen depression and anxiety.

Chia seeds are rich in fiber so it normalizes bowel movements, decrease the chance of constipation and lowers down cholesterol levels.  It has been proven to control blood sugar levels due to the presence of high fiber in it.

These chia seeds although very tiny are rich in calcium which builds and maintains strong bones.  While our heart, muscles, and nerves need calcium to function properly, chia seeds are a good supplement for that.

Aside from those mentioned above, chia seeds are packed with proteins and anti-oxidants.  Anti-oxidants help prevent damage to cells caused by free radicals.

Chia seeds are very effective in weight loss because they help in feeling full for longer period of hours.

How are they consumed?    They can be mixed in any of your food.  Sprinkle them on your cereal, oatmeal or smoothie.  Or simply just put it in your drinking water. Chia seeds are found in most grocery stores.

Chia seeds are safe for pregnant and lactating moms.

Have you tried them? Do share your chia seeds recipe with me in the comment section below.
